Estonian LaceFebruary 27th & 28th 2010 at MOONRISE in Hatfield, PASorry - this workshop is FULL. E-mail to be put on the waiting list or express interest in us booking another.A weekend of fun & learning - - good knitting, good food and good friends! Our main reference source will be a marvelous book, "Knitted Lace of Estonia", by Nancy Bush. It is full of unusual stitch patterns and "must make" shawls and scarfs. The book alone is available on our books page ($22). Estonian Garden by Evelyn Clark and
Estonian Medallion Lace Scarf by Eugen K. Beugler are also both excellent
companions to the exploration of Estonian Lace Knitting. They
are available on our books page in the patterns section. Estonian Lace will be held over the weekend at my home and business in Hatfield, PA - conveniently located 30 minutes north of Philadelphia (cats in residence). There are lots of area hotels in which to stay, ask for some recommendations when you register. The class room is comfortable and beautifully furnished, the setting is peaceful, rural Pennsylvania. There are plenty of area activities for a significant other to enjoy while you are in class. The cost is $90. Yarn for class work is included. The book is not included in this price, and is recommended, but not required for class work. You will have the opportunity to start a project and may want to have the book and yarn for that. Also included: morning and afternoon snacks and wonderful gourmet lunches done by Ebby. To register send an E-mail with any questions you may have, followed by a $25 non-refundable deposit. MOONRISELaceKnitting@verizon.net Right now the first weekend is sold out and spaces are only available the second weekend, but often students are willing to switch between, so e-mail if you can only make the first and I'll see what can be done.

In Out Circle Square ShawlMarch 13th & 14th 2010 at MOONRISE in Hatfield, PAA weekend of fun & learning - - good knitting, good food and good friends! This is a design class. Minimum knitting—just a bunch of swatches as the student works on ideas for a theme. Three or more patterns will be chosen and plugged into the construction. Basically, the shawl starts in the middle with a more-than-circular doily or other round design. When it is 1/3 of the way out, the work is squared out by putting the increases in the corners. The last 1/3 of the piece is done with a border pattern on the sides and a portion of the original circle in the corners. A knit-on edging finishes the shawl. The numbers work for any yarn or gauge. This is for the lace knitter who wants to do some designing on her own, but wants the security of a tried and true set of guidelines. Yarn for the in-class knitting is provided. Students are encouraged to bring yarn to start their own project while they are at the workshop. In Out Circle Square Shawl will be held over the weekend at my home and business in Hatfield, PA - conveniently located 30 minutes north of Philadelphia (cats in residence).
